  • Specific objective
    • To improve the quality of services provided on the Danube waterway
  • Project implementation period
    • 12/2019 - 06/2021

The project focused on designing a technical solution to increase the flow velocity in the lower part of the Hrušov Reservoir, with the aim of preventing sedimentation, enhancing the safety of water transport, and creating the conditions for eliminating bottlenecks in the TEN-T waterway infrastructure. The goal was also to create the prerequisites for making this mode of transport more attractive for carriers and operators in the inland waterway sector. The technical solution was developed in three variants, each accompanied by a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA).

Based on the results of the Feasibility Study and the CBA, the most suitable option was selected. For this option, a construction intent documentation package was prepared, serving as the basis for the environmental impact assessment in accordance with Act No. 24/2006 Coll. on Environmental Impact Assessment. A state expert review was carried out, and documentation for the zoning decision was prepared in accordance with Act No. 50/1976 Coll. on Spatial Planning and Building Regulations. This documentation was subject to assessment under §§16 and 16a of Act No. 364/2004 Coll. on Waters (in accordance with Article 4.7 of Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council). The project was completed with the preparation of the zoning decision documentation and the incorporation of comments from the respective assessments.
